Lyra:
Lyra had been a nurse for a very long time. She had seen many different diseases and epidemics. Healed many people with nursing knowledge or even her vampire blood when practical nursing could not help. Now she was nursing at a city hospital. It was often fairly busy being that the town was full of supernatural beings who would get either themselves or others hurt. So Lyra found herself feeling at home in this hospital.
There was always someone that needed her help. Or someone that needed blood. Usually vampire someones in fact. She had paid off the hospital chief of staff who allowed her to sell bags of blood to vampires in the hope to keep the humans of gnosis mostly safe. Of course some of them preferred the blood from the source, but the blood bank was doing well enough with vampires trying to keep from hurting the humans.
Lyra was sitting at her desk, waiting for a special customer or at least until she was needed by one of the patients down her hallway. She looked up to see someone approach.
"Hello." she said with a smile. "I'm nurse Lyra Ward. How can I help you?" she asked the person.

Kai:
It was always a little awkward to walk into a hospital when you were a vampire. Although you usually appeared a little sickly by being pale you usually were not the type to be checking in out of health concerns. It was more or less going to the one nurse who knew about your situation and getting blood from them. So as a vampire that part made things a little exposed, specially since the only time to go was at night, so Kai was a bundle of nerves.
Now Kai had been to the hospital before for his blood supply, he was a frequent blood pack drinker, he still needed to take a deep breath before he walked in through the front entrance. Today was one of his days off so he could take the time to get the supply that would last him the week and the supply that he would get for his vampiric sibling in the neighboring insane asylum so she did not kill her caretakers.
His eyes were a pale gold from his bloodline trait which indicated he probably could use some blood. But to those who didn't know that he looked fine... Young. He was twenty when he was turned and in a jeans and t-shirt combo he did not look like a professor at all. Which was useful since he wasn't sure if being found out as a vampire could make him lose his job here but he was not risking it.
He spotted the black haired nurse he had dealt with once before, briefly and previously, giving a closed mouth smile at her greeting. He was slouched to make himself seem less his height although he still drew attention. "Hello I'm Kai..." He commented "Is it possible we could speak in private?"
As Lyra got a better look at the man that approached her she recognized him, and understood right away what he needed. She smiled. She was one who never forgot a face or name. "Hello again Kai. I remember you from the last meeting." she said. "You can call me Lyra though." she said.
"This way." she said standing up. She placed an "out to lunch" sign on her desk and led him down to the basement where her blood bank operations were held. When they made it down to the basement she closed the door behind them and turned to Kai. "How can I help you?" she asked.
"I thought I knew you..." Kai commented with a bright smile. "Although since I have a lot of memory to go through I was not sure if it would still be you... Pleased to see you again Lyra." He gave a bit of a bow and then followed her when she led the way to the basement. Besides his slouching he wasn't really hiding himself because people were common to the hospital but not people trying to hide things. He was welcome in the hospital and he wasn't the sort to cause problems... Vampires were not normally injured so this was the only way they needed the hospital.
When she asked how she could help him once they were in the basement, he looked embarrassed. "I need about fourteen blood packs." He told her "Seven for me seven for my vampiric sibling who, as of current, is in a mental asylum. It's not exactly a healthy amount but it's a minimum and I also drink animal blood." Animal blood was not very nutritious but it did still work even for a vampire who grew used to drinking human blood because of a monstrous sire. Though he was not sure how many vampires have normal sires anyways.
"I will take what you have." Kai informed her "My favorite blood type is one which you could likely not afford to give me as a bunch of. O blood is not very common if I remember blood types right." He was looking around the area a little bit but he seemed quite human except his state made his movement a little bit too smooth and too fast. He was not that close to a frenzy though or he would have never gone to pick up the blood. He would have drained blood from a cow before going.
Lyra smiled, "It's ok if it takes you longer remember me. My ability to remember and recall people is something that was amplified when I was turned." she explained. "I don't get offended if I'm not remembered." she said reassuring him about him not knowing for sure it was her, they had only met briefly one other time after all.
"Fourteen huh?" she asked thoughtfully. She walked over to the computer in the middle of the room and sat in front of it, typing away. She listened as he mentioned that his favorite blood type was O and that she could possibly not afford to give that much of it since it was often rare.
She smiled. "Really it depends on which O blood you like. O negative is rare and I actually do not carry it at all. However, O positive is actually one of the 2 most common blood types so I have plenty of it I believe." she said as she looked at her computer. "Yeah I do have plenty of the O positive blood, would that be okay for you?" she asked looking up at him.
"Meanwhile mine was amplified as well but I have lived fairly long so it does not help as much as it should." Kai commented and then added. "And I should have guessed you were a vampire. I think I am a little too thirsty to notice." He tended to get single minded with his tasks when he was thirsty enough and now was certainly one of those times. He was functional but certainly not at the top of his game. It was probably best for her to know about that rather than have him suddenly end up getting scary from him underestimating himself.
"Yeah fourteen." Kai said with a nod. "And I would like O positive... O negative is my favorite because it lacks anything but the RH part is not completely terrible to deal with. Lyssa likes A RH positive blood. I have no idea why but I suppose it's like my taste for rabbit blood." He said that last part matter of fact. Rabbit blood was distasteful at times to people, because it definitely something that killed the rabbit, but a part of Kai's urges was the killing so it worked to help curb his need for human blood to also do that.
"How old are you?" Kai asked "If that is not too impolite. I'm curious about vampires who are as nice as I behave. I'm used to nastier vampires because I had a fairly terrible sire." He scratched the back of his neck and was all the awkward twenty year old.
Lyra smiled. "Well, there is the saying that you never stop learning, so after a hundred years or so it does get a bit harder to make any sense of it all." she said. She chuckled. "It is quite alright, it happens to the best of us." she said before getting up out of her computer chair and going to the large refrigeration unit behind her to grab a bag of blood. She walked over to him and handed it to him. "This one is on the house." she said with a smile. "We'll deal with the ones you asked for when you're finished." she added.
She walked over to her computer and typed away for a brief moment before moving to sit on the edge of the desk and wait for him to finish his meal. She figured now that he was satiated he would be feeling a bit better, and he seemed curious about her and she was curious about him so she would move to sit closer and be more relaxed as they talked.
She smiled when he asked how old she was. "It's quite alright, not impolite at all." she assured him. She had to actually figure out how old she was as she really had not thought about it for quite some time. "I am around 230 years old." she said with a smile. "I was 27 when I was turned." she added. "How old are you?" she asked returning his question.
She understood what he meant about the nastier vampires, it seemed most gave in to the monster inside once being turned. "My sire was nice enough. Though he was determined for me to kill and turn others. I would have no part of it and we split up long ago." she said. "But, I have met many of our kind over the years, especially through running secret blood banks like this. A lot of them truly give into the monster inside them, bloodthirst getting the better of them." she said. "I just don't have that in me. I have accidentally killed a handful of people from losing control. But I regret deeply for them. I will never forget their faces." she said. "So I opened this blood bank to help others from the same grave mistakes." she said.

Kai nodded at her assessment of the memory problems and the thirst problems happening to the best of them. He took the blood pack from her carefully and started to drink from it a little like a juice box. He got into practice of doing so from trying to teach his vampiric sibling how to eat neat. It did not help matters though since she liked to use blood as paint. As he fed the white gold in his eyes lessened so his eyes just looked a normal hazel though not down to the brown they would be without that bloodline trait.
Once he was finished the blood pack he sat down as well nearby. He didn't mind her sitting close to him since he was interested in her. She was older than him in looks but younger than him in the total amount of age. Which was interesting but made sense. The only reason his sire waited until he was twenty was because his sire had wanted to break him before turning him. The age of adulthood was a great deal younger when he was born though and he could have been one of those unfortunate vampires who was turned at sixteen.
"I am 943... Perhaps 944 now." Kai commented, taking into account the current year. "I was turned at approximately twenty because of other circumstances but I was captured a lot earlier by my sire." He didn't need pity and it made him angry to think of that. Anger was not a good emotion with someone who was trained as a beserker so he made sure to keep the emotion down. He was the artist now and a professor, not in the middle of a battle, he had not been in a battle for at least a few years.
He listened to her words about her sire and then about how she didn't have that in her. He gave a bit of a sigh. "I was from a warrior family and then my sire broke me." Kai told her "As much as I wish I did not have that capability to kill in me, I do, but I have been trying to be better for many years. I don't remember all the people I have killed but I am fairly certain if I had been left to be who I was supposed to be I would not have killed anyone."
Lyra's eyes widened when Kai mentioned his age. "I don't know why but I assumed you were younger than me." she said with a chuckle. But when he said he was about 20 when he was turned she nodded. "Maybe that is why I felt that way. I was already 26 or 27 when I was turned." she said thoughfully.
When Kai mentioned his warrior family and that he had killed people she leaned forward and placed a hand on his shoulder. "I know it isn't much comfort for me to say this, but the fact you wish you did not have the capability to kill in you means that killing people or not, you're a good person. The bloodthirst inside of us can not be controlled at all times. It's unfortunate, but as long as you try to put in the effort to keep from killing someone it means a lot towards your character." she said with a smile.
